Global capital is good. Anytime. Anywhere. In any field. As long as value is added to shareholders, customers, employees, government, the whole economy.
The South African economy couldn’t support the scale of the value being contemplated by Elon Musk. Had he and his finances remained “at home”, the whole world would have lost out. Starting from himself.
And let’s remember. OPay’s seed capital, the expertise that stood them out, the value proposition hunting, head hunting skills etc, were originally chinese. Not local. Most on their payroll are local. We getting the superior quality service are local.
Same applies to Dangote, who also head hunts globally. His dollars weren’t raised locally. Nor his output locally bound.
We pray for more of foreign capital. It’s far better not to be left out.
